Located in North Sea, Southampton, NY. BVOA, INC. is a beautiful community development begun in 1947.
The association’s shape and size were created by its development from the former Herne’s Oaks estate.
This land area has a special beauty for its history of very old growth oak trees and its large waterfront area on Little Peconic Bay. Within the area there is also Fresh Pond where many residents have permits from Southampton to dock a boat.
The first group of property owners secured the area as their own with the creation of the Bay View Oaks Association, Inc on August 9, 1958 making it a not-for-profit corporation of New York State.
During this time of development, the Army Corps of Engineers cut an inlet from Fresh Pond into Little Peconic Bay and in 1964 BVOA, Inc. was given Title and Deed documents for a boat launching right of way for its residents only. The waterfront on Little Peconic Bay also has had stages of development with the community owning and maintaining two right of ways to the beach and of highest value was in 1964 when New York State gave the association the title and deed to 865 feet of waterfront area.
The right of ways, the beach and the boat ramp are the properties of the Bay View Oaks Association, Inc. which cares for these areas proudly. One never gets tired of experiencing some of the most spectacular sunsets over the bay with the view of Robbins Island and the waters beyond over to the North Fork.
Commonly referred to as "The Association" of property and the acquired water access areas are the property for BVOA Members Only; none of these areas are open to the public.
ALL BVOA OWNERS HAVE THE BVOA, INC. PROPERTIES IDENTIFIED ON THEIR DEED AND ARE AUTOMATICALLY BVOA MEMBERS BASED ON THEIR PROPERTY PURCHASE.
The membership is exclusive to property owners. Simultaneously with the purchase of land you are also joining the Bay View Oaks Not-For Profit Association. It is the collective members of the association who own the BVOA, INC. Properties.
As a not-for-profit corporation the BVO Association may only charge dues to the membership to meet the expenses we share (for example maintenance and insurance for our properties and assets). The amount charged is set by the membership at our public meetings; we also have developed community guidelines posted at each right of way.
Since we are financially limited, we are very dependent on every member paying their share of the annual dues. Since we are a corporation of NY State we also have to interact as an association according to guidelines of the state. All members are invited to attend the public meetings that determine our future and to be involved as much as possible; in particular, by becoming part of the governing board.
The next sections of our webpage offer more details about payment of dues, participation on the board and the various other topics of our seasonal events.
We are a special place and need everyone to be engaged!
At the time of your purchase of property in Bay View Oaks, you became a member of this beautiful community.
We ask all deeded members to share in the support of Bay View Oaks Association by paying their annual dues. By non-payment of dues, you are jeopardizing our ability to cover the costs of maintenance and insurance. We request all members to register your contact information to effectively collaborate as a community and provide your financial support to allow Bay View Oaks Association to pay its obligations.
As a BVOA member, we invite you to register your contact information
so BVOA can communicate with you on important association business that impacts our Bay, Beach, and Water Activities.
BVOA, Inc. keeps all collected information confidential.
